A Promise Kept Since 1997

A lasting monument to the ultimate sacrifice

In 1997, a group of Tampa police officers met to discuss the need for a monument recognizing the department's fallen. On December 1, 1997, the Tampa Police Memorial was officially dedicated to the community by Mayor Dick Greco and Police Chief Bennie Holder.

"The Memorial has become a place for fellow officers, other agencies, family members, and the community to visit and reflect on the honor and respect owed to those who made the ultimate sacrifice."

The Committee still does that work. It maintains the monument, keeps each officer's story on record, and stands by the families they left behind.
